BarAussieTrio: A Simple AUD/USD Automated Trading System
BarAussieTrio is a live Tradeworks example for AUD/USD, averaging around 4% monthly returns historically. It's built as a simple automated trading system using bar information only — no RSI, MACD, or Moving Average indicators.
The "Trio" refers to its ability to hold up to three positions at once, making it a clear study in position-management logic — still simple enough for any trader to understand.

Overview
What is BarAussieTrio?
BarAussieTrio is an automated trading system example built in Tradeworks for the AUD/USD forex pair. The name comes from three parts: Bar (bar data), Aussie (AUD/USD), and Trio (up to three open positions at a time).
The example started with 100 USD and uses 0.01 lots. The important point is not complexity. It shows how simple rules can be automated, repeated, and tracked over time inside Tradeworks.
See the rules
How a simple automated trading system is built in Tradeworks
BarAussieTrio is useful because the logic is visible. You can see exactly how a buy signal, sell signal, and exit signal are put together from plain bar data — plus how the position structure changes when up to three trades are allowed.
The key point: you can turn visible trading rules into an automated trading system without writing code.
Try building rules like thisLong entry
How BarAussieTrio opens long trades
BarAussieTrio opens a buy position when AUD/USD meets a simple three-day low condition.
In plain English, the bot looks for AUD/USD to open below the lows of the previous three daily bars. A short-term M30 open filter is also used before the buy signal can trigger. Once conditions are met, a new long position can open — up to the maximum of three open trades.
Logic checklist
- Current M30 bar open is less than the previous M30 bar open, within a 240-minute window.
- Current M15 bar open is less than the previous D1 low.
- Current M15 bar open is less than the D1 low from two bars ago.
- Current M15 bar open is less than the D1 low from three bars ago.

Short entry
How BarAussieTrio opens short trades
The short logic mirrors the long logic. Instead of looking below recent daily lows, the bot looks above recent daily highs.
In plain English, the bot looks for AUD/USD to open above the highs of the previous three daily bars, then uses that as the basis for a short entry. The example setup allows up to three open positions total.
Logic checklist
- Current M30 bar open is greater than the previous M30 bar open, within a 240-minute window.
- Current M15 bar open is greater than the previous D1 high.
- Current M15 bar open is greater than the D1 high from two bars ago.
- Current M15 bar open is greater than the D1 high from three bars ago.

Long exit
How BarAussieTrio closes long trades
BarAussieTrio does not use a fixed Take Profit Exit Signal in this example. Instead, long trades are closed by a separate exit signal based on H4 highs.
The bot closes long positions when H4 bars show two consecutive higher highs. The exit is still based on bar information, not on an indicator.
Logic checklist
- Current H4 high is greater than the previous H4 high.
- Previous H4 high is greater than the H4 high from two bars ago.

Short exit
How BarAussieTrio closes short trades
Short positions use the opposite version of the long exit. The bot does not use a fixed Stop Loss Exit Signal or fixed Take Profit Exit Signal in this example.
The bot closes sell trades with an H4 low condition: two consecutive lower lows.
Logic checklist
- Current H4 low is less than the previous H4 low.
- Previous H4 low is less than the H4 low from two bars ago.

Position logic
Up to three positions at a time
BarAussieTrio is configured to allow up to three open positions. The maximum number of trades is set to 3.
This makes BarAussieTrio different from a single-position bot example. When additional signals appear in the same direction, the system can open new positions. If an opposite signal appears, the bot is configured to close all current trades and open a new trade in the opposite direction.
This position-management behavior is why BarAussieTrio is a stronger example of an automated trading system than a simple one-trade robot.

Why this automated trading system does not use indicators
Many automated trading systems are built around indicator stacks. A trader might combine RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands, Moving Average filters, and volatility rules before opening a trade.
BarAussieTrio is intentionally simpler. It trades only on bar information and does not use technical indicators in the example setup.
Readers can see that an automated trading system does not have to begin with complex indicator logic. It can begin with plain rules based on market bars, then add position-management behavior such as allowing more than one open position.
