Overview
What is CrossBarPound?
CrossBarPound is a forex trading robot example built in Tradeworks to trade GBP/USD with cross-confirmation from EUR/GBP. The name comes from three parts: Cross (cross-pair confirmation), Bar (bar data), and Pound (GBP-denominated pairs).
This makes CrossBarPound the first example bot in the series to use a technical indicator alongside bar data. It also uses more exit logic than the BarAussie examples, with separate close signals for take-profit and loss-reduction purposes.
See the rules
How a multi-pair forex algo trading bot is built in Tradeworks
CrossBarPound is useful because the logic is visible. You can see how GBP/USD bar conditions, EUR/GBP confirmation, Bollinger Bands, and four separate exit signals are combined in one automated example.
The key point: you can turn visible trading rules into an automated strategy without writing code.
Try building rules like thisLong entry
How CrossBarPound opens long trades
CrossBarPound opens buy positions when GBP/USD bar conditions align with EUR/GBP Bollinger Bands confirmation.
The entry combines a GBP/USD down-move structure with an EUR/GBP cross-confirmation rule. This makes the setup different from the BarAussie examples: it watches two GBP pairs and uses a technical indicator as part of the signal.
Logic checklist
- GBP/USD: H1 close from two bars ago is less than the previous D1 low.
- GBP/USD: current H1 low is less than the previous H1 low.
- GBP/USD: previous H1 low is less than the H1 low from two bars ago.
- GBP/USD: H1 low from two bars ago is less than the H1 low from three bars ago.
- GBP/USD: H1 low from three bars ago is less than the H1 low from four bars ago.
- EUR/GBP: current BID is greater than the previous upper Bollinger Band.

Short entry
How CrossBarPound opens short trades
The short setup mirrors the long idea with opposite GBP/USD bar comparisons and EUR/GBP Bollinger Bands confirmation.
In plain English, the bot looks for an upward GBP/USD structure while EUR/GBP confirms against its lower Bollinger Band. The result is a multi-pair, indicator-confirmed sell signal.
Logic checklist
- GBP/USD: H1 close from two bars ago is greater than the previous D1 high.
- GBP/USD: current H1 high is greater than the previous H1 high.
- GBP/USD: previous H1 high is greater than the H1 high from two bars ago.
- GBP/USD: H1 high from two bars ago is greater than the H1 high from three bars ago.
- GBP/USD: H1 high from three bars ago is greater than the H1 high from four bars ago.
- EUR/GBP: current ASK is less than the previous lower Bollinger Band.

Long exit — Take Profit purpose
How CrossBarPound closes long trades for profit-taking
CrossBarPound uses a dedicated close-long signal for long trades that have developed as intended.
This rule-based exit is separate from fixed Take Profit settings. It closes long positions when the configured bar condition appears.
Logic checklist
- GBP/USD: current H1 high is greater than the previous H4 high.

Long exit — Loss Reduction purpose
How CrossBarPound reduces losses on failing long trades
CrossBarPound also has a separate close-long signal for trades that are not developing as expected.
The loss-reduction exit uses M1 Bollinger Bands conditions to close long positions earlier when the trade behavior no longer matches the intended setup.
Logic checklist
- GBP/USD: previous M1 open is less than the previous Bollinger Band middle band.
- GBP/USD: current M1 low is less than the previous Bollinger Band lower band.
- GBP/USD: current M1 high is greater than the previous Bollinger Band upper band.

Short exit — Take Profit purpose
How CrossBarPound closes short trades for profit-taking
Short trades have their own take-profit-purpose close signal.
This keeps short exits explicit and separate from fixed Stop Loss or Take Profit settings. The screenshot documents the actual close-short rule used in the example.
Logic checklist
- GBP/USD: current H1 low is less than the previous H4 low.

Short exit — Loss Reduction purpose
How CrossBarPound reduces losses on failing short trades
The fourth exit signal is a close-short loss-reduction rule.
Like the long loss-reduction signal, it uses M1 Bollinger Bands conditions. This gives CrossBarPound more exit logic than BarAussieSolo or BarAussieTrio.
Logic checklist
- GBP/USD: previous M1 open is greater than the previous Bollinger Band middle band.
- GBP/USD: current M1 low is less than the previous Bollinger Band lower band.
- GBP/USD: current M1 high is greater than the previous Bollinger Band upper band.

Signal handling
Two open trades, explicit signal behavior
CrossBarPound is configured to allow a maximum of two open trades. Same-direction signals can open one more trade in the same direction.
If an opposite signal appears, the bot is configured to close all trades and open a new trade in the opposite direction. This position-management behavior is part of the example configuration.

Indicator confirmation
Why CrossBarPound uses Bollinger Bands
Unlike BarAussieSolo and BarAussieTrio — which trade purely on bar data — CrossBarPound introduces a technical indicator: Bollinger Bands.
Bollinger Bands provide upper, middle, and lower reference levels. CrossBarPound uses those levels as confirmation filters alongside bar comparisons across GBP/USD and EUR/GBP.
The indicator is not presented as a prediction tool. It is part of a documented example configuration that can be studied, changed, and tested inside Tradeworks.
What it demonstrates
What this shows about building a forex robot in Tradeworks
CrossBarPound demonstrates three features that BarAussieSolo and BarAussieTrio do not cover: indicator-based confirmation, cross-pair logic, and dual exit management.
A trader could start with a simple bar-based robot like BarAussieSolo, then progress to CrossBarPound-style complexity: add one indicator, add one cross-confirmation rule, and add a secondary exit for risk control.
Questions
CrossBarPound FAQ
Is CrossBarPound a forex algo trading bot?
Yes. CrossBarPound is a live forex algo trading bot example built in Tradeworks to trade GBP/USD with EUR/GBP confirmation. It uses rule-based automation with indicator confirmation rather than manual trade decisions.
What pairs does CrossBarPound use?
CrossBarPound trades GBP/USD, with cross-confirmation from EUR/GBP. Both pairs are GBP-denominated, which creates a natural correlation filter.
Does CrossBarPound use indicators?
Yes. CrossBarPound uses the Bollinger Bands indicator in the example setup. It does not rely on bar data alone.
Why is it called CrossBarPound?
Cross refers to the cross-pair confirmation (GBP/USD + EUR/GBP), Bar refers to bar data, and Pound refers to the GBP-denominated pairs.
What makes CrossBarPound different from BarAussieTrio?
BarAussieTrio uses bar data only. CrossBarPound uses Bollinger Bands, trades GBP/USD with EUR/GBP confirmation, and has more complex exit logic (dual close signals per direction).
Does Myfxbook history predict future performance?
No. Myfxbook can show a verified trading history for the example account, but past performance is not indicative of future performance.
